Join Indigo Studio artist Lisa Howard to learn the gorgeous, intricate art of creating sculptural paper flowers.
In this workshop you will learn the paper folding, cutting and shaping techniques that form the basis of a number of petal types. These petals will then be attached in sequence to reveal colourful sculptural flowers.
Depending on the complexity of your designs you will be able to create and take home two or more flowers and hopefully enough for a small bouquet.
Using nature as your guide you can either opt for realism or let your imagination run wild!
This workshop is perfect to share with friends, family or a loved one.
All materials are provided, and no previous experience is necessary.
About the host…
Lisa Howard originally studied sculpture and photography, followed by a master’s degree in art history at University College London.
Lisa has had a 20 year career in the cultural and creative industries supporting the professional development of many talented people and spearheading programmes, such as the Big Draw aimed at broadening access to the arts and unlocking creativity. Lisa’s artistic practice is diverse but rooted in the idea of capturing natural forms through natural processes.
This includes sun printing methods such as cyanotype and lumen prints, monoprinting directly from the subject and tracing cast shadows in ink. Elements of these techniques are beyond the artist’s control and are therefore both creatively challenging and freeing, ensuring each artwork is unique and captures the process of making in the final form.
Lisa founded Indigo Studio in order to dedicate more time to developing her own artistic work but also as a means of sharing her extensive knowledge of creative techniques through a varied range of botanically inspired seasonal workshops that are accessible to all skill levels
