Location: Holden Clough Nurseries, Bolton-By-Bowland, Near Gisburn / Clitheroe.
Job Type: Part-Time / Full Time - 30hr / 35hr or 40hr contracts

About Us: Nestled within the picturesque countryside of The Ribble Valley, Holden Clough Nurseries is a vibrant, natural space full of plants and wonder. We offer a variety of all things plants, an on-site café, alongside artisan markets, workshops, expert-led talks, and other events.
We proudly grow many of our own plants, right here on site, without polytunnels. This gives us hardy plants that we know can withstand our northern climate. It’s said that ‘if it grows here, it’ll grow anywhere’.
As the season approaches, we are on the lookout for some seasonal staff for the nursery growing team to assist in all the daily duties of a plant nursery.
Position Overview: As a Nursery Assistant on the growing team, you will play a key role in the growing & nurturing of our plants.
Key Responsibilities:
Plant production – mechanical and manual.
Maintaining the nursery site - growing field, and on-site flower beds.
Moving and lifting plants, from/around The Growing Field, for customer orders, display changes, and more.
Caring for and maintaining plants, in all areas, and ensuring all plants look their best.
Occasionally serving customers on the till, and answering phone calls.
Occasionally selling plants, answering queries, and offering advice to customers.
Greeting and offering a high level of customer service to all customers on-site, if / when front-of-house.
Occasionally helping with events / workshop set-ups if / when needed.
Comfortable working in a garden setting and ready to assist in other teams if and when needed. (All)
Desirable qualities:
Strong interest / passion in gardening, plants, horticulture, or the willingness to learn.
Horticultural training or qualifications - or willingness to learn / do an apprenticeship.
PA1 / PA6 qualifications desirable.
IT Skills - for plant inventory and labelling.
Happy to work in and outdoors, in all weather.
Flexible, adaptable, and versatile.
Can do / positive attitude.
Ability to work well in a team and / or independently.
Friendly, approachable, and excellent communication and customer service skills. (when customer facing)
Physically fit and resilient. (mainly plant teams)
Creative flair for plant / product displays.
High attention to detail and a methodical approach, especially for the growing team.
Benefits:
· Part-time / Full-Time – We have 4 or 5 day roles available. 30hr / 35hr or 40hr contracts. All will mostly include 1 weekend day.
· £ National minimum wage / if have qualifications, this can be discussed.
· Due to our rural location, own transport will be required.
